Welcome to our home away from home. The Woolen Needle specializes in hand-dyed wool and reproduction cotton. We offer kits for quilting, wool applique, rug hooking, and punch needle. One-on-one help is always available. Classes for beginning wool applique, quilting, rug hooking, and punch needle are scheduled at your convenience. This beautiful quilt goes together rather quickly with all of the fabric strips and straight lines throughout the quilt.  We have made our Psychedelic Baby with warm and cozy multi-colored homespun fabrics that we love. This quilt is a great one to be used for its softness, warmth, and durability.  It would even make a nice quilt for an outside picnic or to wrap up in at cool football games.  Our kits include the cotton fabric for the quilt top and enough fabric for a scrappy binding.  Coordinating cotton backing fabric is available for purchase in the drop down menu below, as well as Quilter’s Dream cotton batting.

Sheep & Willow Runner

Sheep & Willow Runner by The Woolen Needle

Our original “Sheep & Willow” was so popular that we decided to design it into a runner.  “Sheep & Willow Runner” measures 17″ x 35″ and features a willow tree and sheep in the grass on each side of the runner.  They are surrounded by flowers.  Our kit/pattern combo includes the wool for the design, wool background, and wool backing.  The threads we used are listed below.  They can be purchased individually in the drop down menu.  We use Heat N Bond Lite for our projects and Gold Eye Chenille Needles to stitch.  They are also available in the drop down menu below if you are in need of these items.

Stitching takes me to my happy place! And I think about all the friends I have made over the past number of years. I look at these friendships as pieces of my Life Quilt.
